Howdy all,

its been a while since I last posted and to be honest not much has changed since i last posted except that I now have a job as a barman. The money aint great but its a hell of a lot nicer a job than working as a teacher. My car which went in for repairs on or around 2nd Jan is being 'returned' to me today however last time this happened 2/3 weeks ago I had to send it back due to there being a lot of scratch marks on the front passenger side bodywork which wasnt there when i sent it for repairs. So lets see if it does come back repaired and not damaged this time. Other than those bits of news Im still looking for that elusive high pay and low hours job everyone is chasing and all is well.

So ill keep it short and sweet but with this confirmation that watching John Woo movies is in fact not just fun but educational too.

I discovered that Grim and Nettys resident bringer of death is in fact evolved from a dinosaur....

OK have decided that teaching was a bad way to go so I'm in need of a new direction problem is I'm stumped. I can seem to decide where to go next so I am rather foolishly throwing this out to you guys to suggest some areas to look into, there are some rules however:

1) Dont suggest Teaching or going back to Starchaser (yes I have been offered my old job back), as all you succeed in doing is to force me to bang my head on the desk.

2) Dont make me bang my head on the desk (see 1).

3) Please make sensible suggestions.

4) If your going to break rule No 3 then at least make me laugh!

Perhaps i should become a primary school teacher

Some of the more observant may of noticed that I havent posted in a while, a bit like last year at this time when i discovered the nth level of hell known as a PGCE.

I can now confirm that they lied! There is another level of hell, below the PGCE, it is called NQT year. The NQT year is like a refined PGCE year with less paper work and no one checking up on you till deadlines have come up. All that plus all the joys of being a new teacher in school with only 1 lesson off more than other teachers to do the work in. Well thats what they say the 1 lesson is for until they tell you you have to use it observing teachers or otherwise do something you can only do in school, so the reality is that you have more work, only one less lesson to plan than every other teacher in the school, plus all the extra meetings you have to do and the masters degree they have signed me up for without asking me!

So in brief im fine at the moment if the definition of fine is ready to drop dead at any moment due to stress, overwork and tieredness. But at least i have the students to keep my spirits up......... bugger there went my only good point nevermind.

At least Eve and I are still good and i still manage to find time every blue moon to see friends.

Only one week till half term!

Well after 2 months of free time, I'm finally going to join the ranks of the employed on Monday. Its my first day at school and the end of my 'man of leasure' existance. I must admit im not as prepaired as id like to be, so im sure the month known as September will become Hellember for me :( So if anyone wonders where I have dissapeared to its simple im stuck infornt of my PC or at a desk prepairing for lessons :( In time it will get easier but im sure im going to be stressed out big time till half term (the end of October).

As a NQT (newly qualified teacher) i should get an extra 10% reduction in my teaching time to spend on paperwork as I will have more than my fellow teachers being a)less experianced, and b) still having to meet standards so that I dont lose my QTS (qualified teacher status) at the end of the year. All this extra work is supposidly there to ease my intergration into the proffesion but as far as i can make out it means I have a load of extra paperwork and stress to deal with, but such is life. You are born, fill out a few forms, then die (having first filled out some forms to save someone else from having to do it for you cos you died).

On the up side if I mess up this year I get barred for life from teaching forever so i wont have to face it again, so I really need to make sure I do well.

Its strange, often people tell me that I can talk a lot, but when it comes to something like a live journal I never seem to know what to say. I suppose i sould just waffle on about my life since I got it back from my teacher training (thank goodness its finished).

The week after I finnihed was spent generally recovering from the trauma of the PGCE and playing lots of WOW (finally getting Frosty to 70! woots). I then spent a glorious 2 weeks in Prtugal with Eve. Lets just say while it was raining (and still is) alot in old blighty it was 38 celsius but fortunately fell to a more sensile 28 by the end of the hol. The highlights included staying with some family friends in teh middle of nowhere with a pool and a well stocked wine cellar, staying briefly in a villa on the market for 2 million Euros (for that price you get a temperature controlled jacuzzi bath big enough for 2 Grims! plus a wlak in shower room/ steam room) again with a pool, and visiting some of teh tourist attractions like slide and splash (guess what goes on there), zoo marine, Montchique (tallest mountain in the algarve), and Sagres (A place that gve birth to a decent portugese lager as well as being the wetern most point of the algarve). I also got to see my mum and co.

Since getting back I have been busy enjoying myself (which of course includes lots of WOW getting frosty a flying mount :D). I also helped in the 'epic' move of the Big M and S (not the high street store!) from Nettys place all the way round the coner to their own place (grats by the way on getting your own pad). All we need now is for everyone else I know to move to Ashton-under-Lyne (good job on those who already are sorting that out, you know who you are!) and then who knows have a jolly good party including beer and maybe some Halo goodness!

Well thats it, I'm done, the end has been reached. I am no longer on the teacher training course, as I have (as far as im aware) passed and now am a qualified teacher of science for 11 to 18 year olds. So in future could you all please address me as Mr Griffiths or Sir, raise your hands if you want to ask me something and make sure you properly title, date and underline both before you start a new peice of work...... :) Oh before you ask no I dont have a spare pen you will have to borrow one or write with your own blood.

You may be thinking what does he mean by '(as far as im aware)', well its because the Uni tutors dont tell you if you have passed as we 'as teachers' should of kept a record of all are marks and grades. I have all my work (I think) and it is all marked pass or has a passing grade on it so that means that I should be awarded my certificate in August sometime.

I feel like I have passed my driving test again, you know that felling you get when you realise that the next time your in a car there wont be someone there watching over you shoulder. I dont start till September but when I do the class will be mine and I will be able to run the lesson how I want to not how my Mentor wants me too. So Im going to learn how to hypnotise a class and turn them into my own personal army to take over the world and defend it from Zombie Nazi robot dinosaur riders.

Well I better shut up now before I give away too many details of my plans for world domination. Class Dismissed.

Well I had my last Uni lecture on friday and I have handed in all my assignments that I need, I also got back my research assignment with a 52% stamped on it, not bad since i was aiming for 40% as thats the pass mark. A lot of others put a lot of effort into it but since i realised the course is on a pass fail basis it wont affect my qualification whether i got 100% or 40% or anything inbetween I feel somewhat smug that I did not waste extra time and effort on it.

So what now, well I have two weeks 'enhancement' experience which I am supposed to do something to boost my experience however since im working for a friend of mine rocketjon suppose Im just going to have a laugh instead. So in short Im finding out what the term 'free time' means. I must admit it is a strange experience to be sitting at my computer thinking 'What do I need to do?' to which I answer 'nothing...............' So I naturally think 'so what do I want to do?' to which my brain ceases to function due to the fact that I havent had this luxury for nearly a year now. I suppose I will have to fill my spare time with beer, friends and WOW.

Well I nearly done now I have about 1 week of teaching left then I have another 4 of uni and other bits and bobs then Im done! It has gone increadably quickly and I must admit that it has been the hardest thing that I have ever done in my life (to date). I have loads of work still to do but at least I have no longer got any year 11's as they are on study leave. When Im finally done I think that Im going to sleep for a week.

I would love to add more but I have 2 lessons to plan and Im knackered so thats your lot im afraid.

I have just got back from an interview for a science teacher post in a school near Rochdale, One of the two interviews I had went well the other went ok. Most of the school's physicists are quiting and so I think I may be in with a change even though I'm up against more experianced teachers. I find out at 4.00 today!

Why the title then if its lookig so good well its because I cant believe how fast this past year has gone.

Its 2.00 am on a Saturday... sorry Sunday, Im still writing my research up for my PGCE, have a load of lessons to still plan for next week and I find myself wondering why Im putting myself through this hell. Perhaps I felling a bit down as its 2.00 am on a sunday morning when I should be asleep. Why post this! Its simple its a little reminder to my self to not leave things to the last bloody minute like I always do!

I am easily 2/3rds through the PGCE now the end is in sight (its that small dot on the horizon) and according to my University tutors Im through the hardest bit. Well I have one word to my tutors 'Bollocks!'. Once I get this stupid research project out of the way (and if I get a passing grade, which I have no idea if I will as this is the first piece of work I get graded on other than a pass if you have written in the bank spaces provided assignment) things may get easier as I only have to plan 5 weeks of lessons, create a set of lessons a monkey could teach over 10 hours with all the resources that they would need (in electronic format), provide evidence that I can use a computer, pass some stupid tests in the one test center that seems to cover that small region known as the NW of england, in my own time (which I have precious little of) oh and find somewhere for me to teach for 2 weeks in June when most schools are dealing with exams as the university cant be bothered to do it!

Roll on the summer Hols when I can sleep non stop for 2 weeks..... Bliss.
